About Me
I have been teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL for short, but also ESL, EFL, TESOL, TEFL, whatever acronym you want to use, I've done it) since 2015.
I first fell in love with travel when I started learning about other places in my social studies classes. I remember learning about ancient ruins and other cultures and finding them fascinating. I dreamed of visiting Machu Picchu, Peru and the Pyramids in Egypt, but it all seemed so far out of reach until 2012, when I started following my dreams.
I heard about a trip to Machu Picchu my university was offering for 3 credit hours. I was so excited, but didn't know where I would find the money to go. My family was a huge help for that first trip, and when I got back home, I changed my major to TESOL so I could work and travel the world. It also allowed me to study abroad in Dresden, Germany for 3 months, which further solidified my decision to teach ESOL.
After I graduated from Kent State University, I lived in Russia for 3 months to teach at an English summer camp in Sochi. From there, I moved to China, where I lived for 2 years and taught English. I spent a year teaching grades 6-11 before I got a job teaching English at the local university.
I have been to 20+ countries so far. I'm addicted to travel now, and I just can't stop. I love meeting new people and trying new things along the way. Who knows? Maybe someday I'll meet you!
When I am not teaching or traveling, I enjoy learning new languages, going Latin social dancing with my friends (bachata is my fav), reading, stargazing, and watching Bollywood movies. I dream of one day being in a Bollywood movie, even if it's just as an extra with one line. If you happen to know a director who could use some random American woman for his next film, put a good word in for me. hahaha. I'd love to meet Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor.
Finally, thank you to anyone who has read this far. You're amazing, and I appreciate you taking the time to spend with me. ❤
